Having “Nobody’s Watching,” from Marry Me stuck in my head the last 48 hours (my friend Ale wrote it and it’s a certified earworm).
This Ted Chiang piece about ChatGPT in The New Yorker. The Xerox/lossy compression to AI analogies aren’t perfect, but I really resonated with his argument that “a good first draft isn’t an unoriginal idea expressed clearly [this is what AI does]; it’s an original idea expressed poorly, and it is accompanied by your amorphous dissatisfaction, your awareness of the distance between what it says and what you want it to say.”
